As everyone's skin type, results and NuTan® journey will be different, we can not tell you exactly how many patches/kits you will need to reach your desired or optimal results.

One kit should start you on your tanning journey and give you a great indication of your body's tanning ability, but for those wanting greater results, or those that take longer to build a tan, will require more kits.

For those people who are very fair, have skin type 1, or do not spend any time in the sun, it's important to take your tanning journey slowly. The 'Pre-tan' phase is where you will use the tanning patch at the start of your NuTan® journey for up to three nights without exposing yourself to any UV straight away. This gives your skin a chance to start building up melanin levels from the patch before introducing UV. Some people who are particularly fair may like to extend this period from the recommended three days to five before they encounter small bursts of UV.

Those who have used NuTan® patches before, spending a lot of time in the sun or having an already olive complexion may not need to do this and can head straight to the 'Start Up' phase to introduce bursts of UV after they have worn their first patch.

The start-up phase is where you begin using the patch every night or second night in conjunction with daily bursts of UV.

If you are very fair, or Skin Type 1, we always recommend the 'Pre-Tan' phase first, which essentially has you wearing the patch overnight for a few nights before introducing UV bursts.

Congratulations on achieving your desired results with NuTan®

We have found that two patches a week as well as UV bursts will continue to maintain the colour level you have achieved. If you find you're too dark from using your maintenance pouch(two patches), then use two patches in a week, then skip the next week, and use another two the following week.

Should you want to then increase your colour for a special occasion, just increase the frequency of use of your patch and UV exposure back to every second day.

Depending on your skin type, how much UV exposure you getprior to your NuTan® journey, results can be seen between 1 - 6 weeks with each person’s results varying.

Take for example some starting a fitness journey. If it's your first time a gym we wouldn't recommend training two hours a day, seven days a week. Your body isn't prepared for it. You will find much better results working with your body in a slow but steady approach where you don't over do it.

But for someone else who has just had a month off from the gym after being a devoted gym user, they will fall back into a routine with far more ease.

Not a gym junkie and this analogy isn't doing it for you? No problems! Here's another;

Going from blonde to brunette or from black to copper or some major colour change? Any reputable hairdresser would advise to do it over multiple visits rather than risk over-processing the hair causing damage/poor results

No! Have you ever heard the saying 'It won't happen overnight....but it will happen'

Your NuTan® journey is very similar. We don't go to the gym once and then expect to see results in the mirror the next day(Although we will all have a quick look in the mirror ...just in case maybe something has slightly changed) The tanning journey is much like your fitness journey(but we reckon its a faster one) You need to be consistent, persistent and also patient.

Depending on your skin type, and how much UV you're naturally exposed to, many will start seeing gradual results in about week two, others may take much longer. The start is always the slowest part as you're building up your skin's melanin, then once you have a base colour, the journey will become much faster and you'll see results quicker.

Different countries have strict recommendations when it comes to minutes spent in the sun. Please be guided by your local regulatory bodies.

It’s vital that humans are exposed to sunlight for small periods at safer times of the day to help your body produce vitamin D. The 'sunshine vitamin' helps the body absorb calcium, which is essential
for bone health. It’s recommended for vitamin D levels to be maintained for strong bones.

We do not recommend spending any excess time in the sun outside of these recommended amounts.

Yes, if solariums are available to you in the country you live, then they are the perfrect way to activate your patch. Please always Tan Responsibly

The original NuTan® patch was originally designed in South Africa and to be-used in conjunction with solarium use.

Ideally, we recommend that you want to activate your patch within 5-6 hours of having worn your patch.

So if you wear your patch overnight, it would be ideal to get a short burst of UV that next day. as soon as possible

We don't advise wearing your patch whilst in the sun. Ideally, you want to wear the patch for a minimum of five hours with UV the next morning for best results.

Yes. Your NuTan® patch will help to tan your entire body.

If you're someone that spends most of your time in bathers or bikinis when you're in the sun, then it's likely that the exposed areas will become darker than the areas that are covered by clothing, hence you will notice tan lines as your tan becomes darker.

It’s perfect for fair-skinned individuals as the tanning patches will increase your body's natural ltanning abilities. The tanning process may be a slower process in the beginning for fair people as you only want very minimal UV exposure.

You also need to manage your expectations. Someone who is very fair or Skin Type 1, will never end up with an olive Mediterranean skin type as this is not part of their genetic makeup. It's likely you'll be able to gain a lovely glow.

We highly recommend wearing the patch on the back of your shoulder or any other place on your body where the skin will not crease or sweat whilst on the skin. Behind the shoulder offers a flat surface and is not an area that commonly sweats. Other areas may include the hip, top of the thigh, and top of your arm or forearm.

YES! Whenever in the sun or exposed to UV, you should always wear an SPF sunscreen.

The rate at which your skin will tan is dependent on your skin type, but your results will be deeper and longer-lasting as the SPF product will prevent your skin from burning and peeling.

The patch CAN NOT protect you from getting burnt or the damaging effects of excessive or unprotected sun exposure.

If you have forgotten to wear your patch overnight......don't panic!

So you've woken up to an amazing day and realised you didn't pop your patch on last night. It's ok. It's absolutely fine to put your patch on during the day, but you just want to make sure that you're able to keep the patch on your skin, uninterrupted for at least five hours. That means so sweating, no gym, no movements where you're creasing your skin where you're wearing the patch.

Once you've had the patch on for at least five hours, you can now proceed to get your rays!

Ultimately the more burst of UV you get, the faster your results will be in the Tanning phase. In a case in the tanning phase where you can only seek sun or UV every second or third day, then just make sure you wear your patch the night before you know you have an opportunity to gain UV exposure. It's ultimately best to be aligning your tanning patch with UV exposure the next day(unless you're in the Pre-Tan Phase), but the more frequently you align your patch and UV exposure in the beginning, the quicker the process to obtain your desired results.

The more frequency, in the beginning, the better results you will have.

YES, using fake-tan products whilst using NuTan® patches is completely fine. The patch works on a deeper level than what fake-tan products reach, therefore using some fake tan in the early stages is a nice transition between no tan and your real tan. Just be mindful that using fake products will make it harder to see the gradual colour change in your own skin, and it may take a while before your skin can naturally compete on the same level as a spray tan.

The shelf life of your NuTan® patches unopened is 5 years.

However, we recommend once you open a pouch(which contains two patches) that you use these within 5 days for maximum benefit.

It's important to keep your NuTan® Tanning patches in a room temperature environment due to the nature of the micro-crystal technology. Should your environment be on the warmer side and a hotter climate, then we recommend keeping these in the fridge.
